Stephane Sarrazin 2022 election candidate
Originally, from the village of Alfred in the United Counties of Prescott & Russell, I got involved in several community activities such as the Optimist Club, the children’s snowsuit program, school council (parents), Canada Day committee, etc.…
Graduated from Algonquin College in Ottawa in the field of electricity (electronics), I started my business in 1990. My experiences as an entrepreneur, industrial project manager, and industrial robotics product sales gave me the chance to meet many people while working in region with several production facilities.
I was nominated in 2014 as President of Hydro 2000 Inc., the electricity distribution company in the village of Alfred and Plantagenet, which belongs to the Municipality of Alfred-Plantagenet. During my term, I quickly understood how a municipality-owned corporation works and developed an interest in municipal politics. After participating in several council meetings and a few budget meetings, I realized that the municipality could benefit from a candidate who would have good communication skills.
I believe that politics must evolve and keep pace with technology. We now have the chance to involve taxpayers in decisions that directly affect them through the internet and social media. I like to interact with people to get their opinions and concerns.
Some politicians mention transparency, for my part I believe that we need to go beyond transparency and encourage the involvement of taxpayers; it is their money that is at stake.
Since I took office as mayor of the Municipality of Alfred-Plantagenet, I had the chance to sit on several boards of directors such as the Economic and Tourism Development Committee of Prescott & Russell, Public Works Committee of Prescott & Russell, Prescott & Russell Residence Committee (Long Term Care), EOHU (Eastern Ontario Health Unit), CNS (Conservation Nation South), TPRT (Prescott & Russell Tourism) and others.
I was nominated as the united counties of Prescott & Russell Warden in December 2020. This role gave me the opportunity to become a member of the Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus and represent the Eastern Ontario region.
I have a great interest in serving the people of my community and I will continue to represent them well.
